Dear General Council Members,
Praise God for each of you! We hope this letter finds you doing well and blessed of the Lord. Thanks to those of you who attended the General Council meeting held in Columbus, Ohio March 17. For those not able to make it, we appreciate you for being a member of the Council and praying for us. Additionally, we thank all of you for your continued work in the Lord throughout your jurisdictions and local churches. The Lord will not forget your work and labor of love in ministering to the saints.
We believe this council meeting was a success and some of you shared that it was very informative and a success as well. The CLGI lawyer, public relations representative and all of us on the Board of Directors were available to provide information and answer your questions and concerns. Thanks for caring enough about the church to ask questions, make recommendations for change and your willingness to work with us as a team to help make the church better in the future. We want to continue that dialogue, so please continue to send us, through your jurisdictional bishop, your questions and recommendations for change.
The need for changes in CLGI is evident to all of us on the Board and we are in the process of revising our Constitution and By-Laws. We will review your recommendations and include them, where feasible, in the By-Laws. Please be mindful that some changes might happen immediately; some might take years to implement and others might not be beneficial to the church. But please do not let that deter you from sending your recommendations, because everyone’s voice is important and we need and want to hear from you and the saints in the local churches. We realize that you, the General Council members, are the voice for the people.
We will continue to keep you updated as resolutions are reached on open items and questions not answered at this Council meeting. The next General Council meeting will be held during the General Assembly, which is scheduled for July 3-8, 2018 in Mobile, Ala. We hope to see all of you there. As we go forward and continue to work together for the betterment of the saints, we believe that God will abundantly bless and prosper the church. Again, thanks for your support!
