MISSION STATEMENT:
    Inform, instruct, and prepare our youth and young adults through increasing their levels of responsibility, time management, written and oratorical skills yielding success in higher levels of education, professional careers, and ecclesiastical service
OBJECTIVES:
  • Actively monitor grade point averages
  • Facilitate practice SAT/ACT exams and other standardized tests
  • Provide helpful hints issued by accredited sources proven to enhance their scoring potential
  • Assist youth in compiling a high school portfolio highlighting key accomplishments
  • Build strong levels of responsibility, time management, written and oratorical skills
  • Instruct students through informative seminars, mentorship, and spiritual guidance
GOAL STATEMENT:
    Motivate each student to reach and exceed the potential

  • Increase each student's composite standardized tests score (SAT/ACT)
  • Increase each student's grade point average
  • Student's develop impressive portfolios
  • Increase potential for acceptance into post-graduate learning institutions

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
  • Instituted the IYYAD Academic Excellence (College Prep) Program in 2003
  • Currently have 51 students enrolled from 9th grade through college freshman
  • All jurisdictions represented except for Italian-Ghanaian and South America
  • Implemented mandatory registration for all students in 2006
  • Completed programs' first ever college fair in 2006
  • Students compete for Youth of the Year, Most Improved Student, and Top GPA Awards to prepare them for rigorous scholarship and admissions process
  • Conducted academic seminars in 2003 and 2004
PROGRAM RESULTS
  • Overall
    • Combined GPA program average increased from 3.11 to 3.54
  • Class of 2007 (12 students)
    • Applied to 54 colleges/universities (met early admissions for over 60%)
    • Obtained acceptance letters for 27 different colleges/universities (50% success rate)
    • Applied for over 70 scholarships, grants, and financial aid
    • Earned in excess of a half million dollars scholarship funds
    • Four students received a full-ride scholarships
  • Other Observations
    • 30% more likely to apply for college before deadline (includes early admissions)
    • 2 times more likely to complete financial aid paperwork in a timely manner
    • 5 times more likely to complete scholarship paperwork and submit for decision
    • 3 times more likely to be accepted into the college or university of their choice
    • More responsive to deadlines
    • Better prepared for college applications process
